Planning Your Wedding Photography: A Simple Checklist
EPURTURE · 12 October 2026
Your wedding day passes in a blur. The photos are what you keep. A little planning makes sure every moment that matters is captured.
1. Book early
Good photographers get booked months ahead, especially in the wedding season. Lock your date as soon as your venue is confirmed.
2. Decide on your style
Candid, traditional, cinematic — or a mix. Look through galleries and save the images you love so your photographer understands your taste.
3. Share the full schedule
Haldi, mehendi, sangeet, baraat, pheras, reception — list every function with times and venues. This decides how many hours and how many photographers you need.
4. Make a family shot list
Write down the group photos you must have (grandparents, siblings, cousins) and assign one relative to gather people. It saves a lot of time on the day.
5. Plan for light and time
Leave 20–30 minutes for couple portraits, ideally around sunset. Check whether your venue allows flash during rituals.
6. Think about the album and video
Decide early if you want a printed album, a highlight reel or full video coverage, so the team is planned accordingly.
7. Feed your photographers
It sounds small, but a long wedding day is hard work. A short meal break keeps the team sharp for the evening.
