Pre-Wedding Shoot Ideas: How to Prepare for Photos You'll Love
EPURTURE · 12 October 2026
A pre-wedding shoot is the one session that is entirely about the two of you — no rituals, no schedule, no crowd. Here is how to make the most of it.
1. Pick a location that means something
A café where you had your first date, a lake you visit every winter, or the streets of your city at dawn. Places with a story make photos feel personal rather than staged.
2. Plan for golden hour
The hour after sunrise and before sunset gives soft, warm light that flatters everyone. Midday sun creates harsh shadows and squinting.
3. Coordinate outfits, don't match them
Choose complementary colours instead of identical ones. Bring two looks — one casual, one dressy — so the gallery has variety. Avoid large logos and very busy prints.
4. Forget "posing" — interact
The best frames come from walking, laughing, whispering a joke or dancing badly. Your photographer will guide you into a moment; you just need to be in it.
5. Add a prop with meaning
A vintage scooter, your pet, a handwritten letter, flowers, or the instrument one of you plays. One good prop is better than five.
6. Keep the day light
Don't plan a pre-wedding shoot on a day packed with other errands. Eat well, carry water, and give yourselves time to relax.
